MDRC led this nine-year research project for the US Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation, which evaluated the impact of eight healthy marriage programs for lower-income married couples with children. It was conducted in collaboration with Abt Associates, Child Trends, Optimal Solutions Group and Public Strategies as well as academic experts Thomas Bradbury, Philip Cowan and Carolyn Pape Cowan. The rigorous evaluation project was designed to examine both the implementation and operation of healthy marriage education and related services for lower-income couples with children and the net impacts of these programs on marital stability, adult well-being and child well-being.
